comForte adds strong authentication to SecurCS and SecurFTP

September 22, 2004

comForte has added strong authentication using SSL client certificates to its SecurCS and SecurFTP products. Using SSL client authentication, the server side components can now validate the authenticity of the clients using digital certificates. Working seamlessly with the Microsoft Certificate Store on the PC, SecurCS and SecurFTP can also be integrated with client side hardware security modules, such as USB Tokens or smart cards. On the NonStop server, the certificate is verified and can optionally be retrieved by an application using a simple API.

SecurCS and SecurFTP are products which encrypt a wide range of TCP/IP based middleware such as Telnet, FTP, RSC, ODBC, HTTP, IBM MQ Series and others. For more information about SecurCS and SecurFTP see the comForte home page under comforte/ssl.

comForte also has authored an article in the ITUG magazine, The Connection, which explains the concept of SSL certificates in detail. The article can be obtained from comForte upon request; please contact info@comforte.com.
