Logica uses JPath for Web Enabled BESS

February 16, 2001

The BESS (Banking Electronic System Support) Wireroom and Payments product was developed in the early 1980s by using "green screen" technology. In the course of time, the BESS product was enhanced to include Payments Processing, EFT, additional mainframe connectivity, SWIFT II, Common Entry, and many other features.

Existing BESS clients are happy with its reliability and capacity to process large volumes of messages. Over the last few years, the "green screen" technology on other platforms was superseded by more user friendly GUI screens, while Internet and Intranet technology was accepted as the method of communication in many banks.

WEB Enabled BESS was developed by using JPath and combines the GUI interface and the Internet/Intranet technologies in a package easy to implement and maintain. Web Enabled BESS does not require the use of a terminal emulator on the PC and does not require any change to the existing BESS Pathway configuration. With Web enabled BESS any bank user with Internet/Intranet access is enabled to use the BESS product, while all communication over the network is encrypted via the SSL/TLS protocol.
